Chris and Erin moved to Tasmania with their daughter Jaimie in 2004 after a career in the military and ran the Branxholm Hotel in North East Tasmania. After Xavier and Jack were born (Jack was born with cerebal palsy spastic quadriplegia) in 2005 and 2006 respectively Chris was the stay at home Dad for nearly 3 years and studied a Graduate Diploma in secondary teaching while Erin worked as an Army Officer and completed the Police recruit course. After moving to Launceston in 2009 Chris and Jack completed Kayak Jack where they raised over $70000 for St Giles paddling from Launceston to Hobart via the East Coast (Chris was a 2010 finalist for Tasmanian Australian of the Year). Following this adventure Chris and Jack completed several marathons and hiked the Overland track in 2014 as part of Overland Jack (Southern Cross made a documentary on the adventure) raising money for other special needs organisations. In 2016 Chris and Erin founded the not for profit organisation Just Like Jack with the aim of helping special needs children and their families experience adventures and get the most out of life. Jack is the face of this organisation and inspires people to embrace life and to reach out and lend a helping hand to those in need. The organisation want people to be Just Like Jack in facing life’s challenges with a smile and with the help of those around you exceeding the limitations that are placed on those with disabilities.
