Choir of Man to join Australia Day Dinner

STOP PRESS: Some of the NT’s favourite vocalists have signed up for a surprise “corporate gig” at the Australia Day Council NT Dinner “An Evening with Samuel Johnson.”

Australia Day Council NT Executive Director Kiya Gill has confirmed that the collective talents of David Garnham and the all male choir will provide the finale at the Council’s signature event.

“The cat’s out of the bag, we were going to keep it a surprise, but Darwin is such a small community word is out and we have decided to share the news.

“This will be the Choir’s first performance since 2016 and we think it will be a fantastic match to Samuel Johnson, an iconic figure on Australian television and highly acknowledged for his fund raising efforts for LOVE YOUR SISTER,” Ms Gill added.

David Garnham describes the ensemble as “a mixture of everyday top end blokes - public servants, tradies, journos and other deadbeats, each with more heart than talent.

“The result is a charming celebration of a sensitive masculinity,” he says.

“Australia Day is the day to reflect on what it means to be Australian, to celebrate contemporary Australia and to acknowledge our history,” Ms Gill added.

“It is a day to celebrate all the things we love about Australia and share our stories. What better way than with an inspirational speaker and the harmonies of these great blokes.”

The Choir of Man will perform at  “An Evening with Samuel Johnson” at the Darwin Convention Centre on Saturday 27 January.

Funds raised at the event help support Australia Day activities in communities across the Territory, to ensure that all Territorians enjoy the spirit of Australia Day.
